Every Day is Earth Day in Destin

Earth Day is April 22, but that doesn't mean that you have to limit your celebration to a single day! In Destin, every day can be earth day! Here are a couple of our favorite local places to celebrate the planet we call home.

Gulfarium Marine and Adventure Park

Come see a variety of local wildlife at the Gulfarium. Along with being one of Destin's top family-friendly attractions, the Gulfarium is home to some incredible conservation efforts, including The C.A.R.E. Center, where injured sea turtles are rehabilitated.

Henderson Beach State Park

Henderson Beach is a nature preserve. This scenic strip of shore has a nature trail that leads you through protected ecosystem, including the last remaining coastal scrub area in Destin. You can also bike, fish, swim, and watch wildlife while you're here.

Alaqua Animal Sanctuary

Alaqua Animal Sanctuary is a nonprofit organization that helps neglected and homeless animals. You can take a tour of their 10-acre farm and meet the horses, donkeys, goats, cows, and other animals that receive care at the refuge. You can learn more about their rehabilitation center here

Join the Earth Day Beach Cleanup

Destin-Fort Walton Beach Tourism and Saltwater Restaurants are teaming up to host a beach cleanup in honor of Earth Day. Volunteers from businesses, government agencies, communities, and families are invited to join. This even will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 8-10am. All participants will get the chance to compete in contests, and will receive a free event t-shirt and post-cleanup breakfast. Register in advance.

Come immerse yourself in the beauty of the Emerald Coast! As you explore Destin, try to be mindful of trash and emissions. After all, we want future generations to be able to enjoy the beach the same way that we do!
